Methane production and performance in dairy cows fed with RumenProof CF

Introduction Two randomized, controlled studies were performed in the UK (Harper Adams University, Newport, UK) and USA (University of California, Davis, CA, USA) to investigate the effect of different doses of Panatec RumenProof CF (Mayo Healthcare, Westport, Ireland, UK) on methane production and milk yield of dairy cows and to compare its effect with Monensin. Additionally, dry matter intake was assessed. Panatec RumenProof CF is a compound feed for dairy cows, containing the trace elements Iodine and Cobalt, microencapsulated Urea (microencapsulation platform technique developed by the National University of Ireland, Galway), and minerals and plant extracts.
